On October 14, 2008, Broward County and the City of Fort Lauderdale entered into an Interlocal Agreement for the Acquisition, Improvement, Enhancement, Operation and Management of Open Space Site OS-145 Middle River Terrace Park Addition located at 1325 NW 7 Avenue. At that time, the City had a purchase contract with the property owner. Over the intervening five years, environmental site assessments revealed the presence of arsenic contamination in the soils and groundwater of the property; the owner defaulted on the property; and the appraised value of the property greatly diminished. As a result, the City has agreed to the Mutual Termination of Agreement for this property (see Exhibit 1). |
