THE LIBRARIES DIVISION RECOMMENDS THE APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
Approval of this item will support the Board's Value to cultivate community culture, arts, recreation and life-long learning and the Goal to provide diverse artistic, cultural, educational, and historical amenities and programs that contribute to a vibrant, multi-cultural and economically-viable community.
On October 9, 2018, Agenda Item No. 31, the Board of County Commissioners approved a Library Services and Technology Act Grant Agreement from the State of Florida in the amount of $81,733 for the purpose of funding a new program "Project Welcome". Project Welcome embraces newcomers and English language learners (ELL) in Broward County, informs them of the important resources the Libraries Division has to offer, and supports them on their path towards literacy, economic property, and a sense of belonging.
This amendment revises the expected deliverables to those items the Libraries Division can accomplish within the State's current fiscal year. The Deliverables for Payment No. 4 include staff training, library materials translation into Spanish Creole, & Portuguese, producing marketing materials, and advertisements through Facebook. The fourth payment is in the fixed amount of $16,347. Additionally, the revised Deliverable for Payment No. 5 is the creation of the Project Welcome Ambassador Training Guide. The fifth payment is in the fixed amount of $4,087. All other terms and conditions of the grant agreement remain unchanged.
County Attorney’s Office has approved this agreement as to form. The grant amendment is in the State's form.
