The Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Inc., is requesting a waiver of the February 1, 2019 application deadline for its grant application to the Fiscal Year 2020 CINV funding (Exhibit 1). Under the previous management, the organization has one prior request for a waiver. On June 2, 2009 (Item No. 61), the Board approved a waiver for the late submission of audited, certified financial statements for the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Inc., due to a change in the accounting firm.
In a letter dated February 14, 2019 (Exhibit 2), Patricia Zeiler, Executive Director of the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Inc., stated that the organization failed to submit the required CINV application and documents to the County by the deadline date due to the resignation of the Finance Director in late 2018; new staff on board in January 2019; and due to the busy schedule of the Executive Director.
Pursuant to Section 29.17(g.)(4.) of Administrative Code, the request for a waiver shall be submitted by the County Administrator to the Board who may, in its sole discretion, approve or deny the applicant's request for a waiver to file the application after the required application filing deadline. However, the request for a waiver of the application deadline must be received in writing by the Director of the Cultural Division no later than ten calendar days after the applicable program’s application deadline.
The Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Inc. was aware of the annual February 1 deadline as Ms. Zeiler received an electronic correspondence from the staff on December 1, 2018 (Exhibit 3), providing her with the onboarding information to initiate the online application.
The request for this waiver was received after the ten-day remedy period. Pursuant to Section 29.16(a.)(5.) of the Administrative Code, the application deadline for CINV is, annually, on or before February 1.
Granting the request of The Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Inc. will require a waiver of the Administrative Code.
