Broward County is the gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean. With a competitive and strategically located air and sea port, with direct rail connectivity, Broward County enjoys unique advantages key to becoming a global hub for domestic and international trade opportunities. This event will increase our on-going ability to restore the economy, rebuild our communities and sustain our low unemployment performance while serving to strengthen our ties with overseas interests and boosting Broward County and the South Florida economy. This action is goal related because it will increase the economic strength and impact of Port Everglades, the Broward County Convention Center and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in a sustainable manner balancing economy, environment and the community.
Vice-Mayor Dale V.C. Holness will travel internationally on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners from January 15th - 21st, 2019 for a mission and business development trip to India. While there, Vice-Mayor Holness will attend trade, agriculture and manufacturing workshops, meet with elected officials and business owners and attend cultural exhibitions and business conferences. Vibrant Gujarat Summit was conceptualized in 2003 by Honorable Prime Minister of India and the then Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi, to re-establish Gujarat as a preferred investment destination within India. Today, the Summit has evolved into a platform for brainstorming on agendas of global socio-economic development, in addition to being a facilitator for knowledge sharing and forging effective partnerships. The 8th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, held in January 2017, witnessed participation from 25,000+ delegates from 100+ countries, including four Heads of States, Nobel Laureates, Captains of global industry and Thought Leaders.
The 9th Vibrant Gujarat 2019 Summit is now proposed to provide a forum for discussion on

- National and
- State-level agendas
with a sharp focus on all round economic development for a ‘New India’.
In addition, Vice-Mayor Holness will be able to promote the 2019 Broward County Florida International Trade and Cultural Expo (FITCE) scheduled for October 9th-10th, 2019 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center, an annual County-sponsored event under the supervision of the Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD). This trade mission and business development trip is to further encourage attendance at FITCE, boost Florida-India trade and promote tourism and business development.
