The Broward County Living Wage Ordinance ("Ordinance") currently requires that covered employers pay covered employees no less than $12.38 per hour with qualifying health care benefits amounting to at least $1.61 per hour, or no less than $13.98 per hour without qualifying health care benefits. On January 1, 2019, absent further action by the Board, this amount will be adjusted to no less than $12.60 per hour with qualifying health care benefits amounting to at least $1.63 per hour, or no less than $14.23 per hour without qualifying health care benefits.
On October 23, 2018 (Item No. 52), the Board directed County staff to study the health care benefit amount, which is currently $1.61 per hour, and to provide sufficient information to the Board to permit a Board discussion thereof on or before December 11, 2018. Subsequently, on November 13, 2018 (Item No. 77), the Board scheduled a discussion item for the December 4, 2018 Board meeting for staff to present information on the health care benefit amount.
A copy of staff’s presentation will be provided to the Board upon completion and in advance of the December 4, 2018 meeting.
