A. MOTION TO ENACT Ordinance adopting a Small Scale land use plan amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan, PC 18-5, in the City of Pompano Beach, to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan (Commission District 4), the substance of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING A SMALL SCALE AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF POMPANO BEACH; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
ACTION: (T-11:25 AM) Filed proof of publication and enacted the Ordinance with amendments on Purple-Sheeted Additional Material, dated May 22, 2018, submitted at the request of Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department to become effective as provided by law. Condition is inserted into the motion for approval of Item 44 A and B with the motion including the approval subject to the Planning Council's recommendations recognizing the applicant's voluntarily commitments regarding peak hour trips, airport noise issues, and the airport study checklist, and that it be subject to the city entering into an Evacuation Sheltering Agreement in substantially the form attached as Additional Material Number 44(2)
VOTE: 8-0. Commissioner Sharief was not present.

AN ORDINANCE OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING A SMALL SCALE AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF POMPANO BEACH; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background |
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed small scale amendment, PC 18-5, and corresponding text amendment PCT 18-3, at its March 22, 2018, public hearing and recommended approval, subject to the resolution of hurricane sheltering prior to the Planning Council's second public hearing and also subject to the applicant’s voluntary commitments regarding peak hour trips, airport noise issues, an Airspace Study Checklist and a hurricane evacuation contingency plan (Vote of the Planning Council; 15-3; Yes: Blattner, Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Good, Graham, Moraitis, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Ryan, Williams and Stermer. No: Blackwelder, Grosso and Udine), and also at its April 26, 2018, public hearing, recommended approval, recognizing the applicant’s voluntary commitments regarding peak hour trips, airport noise issues, an Airspace Study Checklist and a hurricane evacuation contingency plan, and the City of Pompano Beach’s voluntary commitment to provide eligible and trained emergency evacuation shelter managers and support staff in the event of a Broward County “Zone B” storm evacuation order be formalized in a legally binding agreement (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 16-0; Blattner, Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Gomez, Good, Graham, Grosso, Moraitis, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Ryan, Udine, Williams and Stermer).
A. AMENDMENT PC 18-5
Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Pompano Beach
From 6.0 acres of Commerce, 3.2 acres of Medium-High (25) Residential and 0.4 acres of Low-Medium (10) Residential to Activity Center. Approximately 9.6 acres; generally located on the east side of Federal Highway/U.S. 1, between Northeast 14 Street and Northeast 17 Street.
B. AMENDMENT PCT 18-3
Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan text, corresponding to proposed Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 18-5, in the City of Pompano Beach.
