Broward County (the “County”) is responsible for establishing a countywide public safety communications infrastructure for law enforcement, fire, and medical services emergencies. The County is in the process of implementing a new digital land mobile radio system that will provide improved voice and notification communication abilities. Reliable signal coverage requires a network of emergency communication towers. It has been determined that a 300-foot radio tower is needed in northwest Broward County to provide the required coverage for public safety services. This proposed land acquisition, in northwest Broward County, is necessary to provide safe, efficient, and broad coverage of the countywide public safety communications infrastructure.
The Office of Regional Communications and Technology and the Office of the County Attorney recommend approval of this motion.
