TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT AND TRANSIT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS.
This item supports the Board’s Value for "Cooperatively Delivering an Efficient and Accessible Regional Intermodal Transportation Network".
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) provides Broward County funding (block grant) on an annual basis, pursuant to Chapter 341, Florida Statutes, for assistance in funding operations for fixed-route bus service. These funds require a 50/50 match and are available to offset operating expenses incurred by the Transit Division (BCT). FDOT, through this supplemental JPA, will provide $9,161,033 for Fiscal Year 2018, to support transit operations in Broward County.
As background, on October 28, 2014, the Board approved a multi-year joint participation agreement in the initial amount of $8,872,251 ($17,744,502 previous contract value). Funding allocations for the interim years are made available through execution of supplemental JPAs. On October 27, 2015, the Board approved supplemental JPA No. 1 in the amount of $9,006,481 ($35,757,464 amended contract value). On December 13, 2016, the Board approved supplemental JPA No. 2 in the amount of $9,002,348 ($53,762,160 amended contract value). (Upon approval of this supplemental JPA No. 3, Fiscal Year 2018 funding of $9,161,033, the total amended contract value will be $72,084,226. The term of this agreement is upon execution through December 31, 2019.
The SJPA (Exhibit 3) has been reviewed and approved as to form by the County Attorney’s Office.
County approval of the Resolution and execution of the supplemental JPA is required prior to FDOT executing said agreement.
