THE LIBRARIES DIVISION RECOMMENDS THE APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This item supports the Board's Goal to "Enhance funding for Library programs and various life-long-learning opportunities for our residents and visitors."
Pursuant to the Administrative Code, the Libraries Division requests that the Board formally accept this donation from the Broward Public Library Foundation, Inc., through donations from the family and friends of the late Library Advisory Board Chair Eugenie Sutter.
The Broward County Libraries new Active Learning Center (ALC) is located on the second floor of the Main Library. The ALC is a free, educationally rich, children's play space that provides developmentally appropriate play activities to promote school readiness.
Designed to look like a seaside village, the ALC provides children up to age five the opportunity to develop flexible strategies for creative play as they experiment, interact, try new items and problem solve. All items and furnishings in the ALC have been carefully chosen for optimum safety and interest.
The Broward Public Library Foundation, Inc. is committed to enhancing the collections, programs and services of the Broward County Library system beyond the means of public funding.
