THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action allows the County to accept additional grant funding from the FAA in support of the construction of the Terminal 4 Airfield Apron project.
On October 7, 2014 (Item No. 2), the Board approved the execution of FAA Grant No. 3-12-0025-073-2014 in the amount of $8,200,000 to financially participate in the construction of the Terminal 4 Airfield Apron project at Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. This FAA Grant required a local match of $2,733,333.
The additional FAA grant funds in this action are in the amount of $4,379,333, to continue to support the construction of the Terminal 4 Airfield Apron project. With the acceptance of these funds, the total Federal share for the project will be $12,579,333. The project's estimated total cost is $80,000,000 and its completion is anticipated to occur in November 2018.
This FAA Grant Agreement requires the County Attorney to sign after the Mayor signs. The Office of the County Attorney has reviewed the document, approved it, and will be signing after the Mayor’s signature as per the FAA’s request. However, this Grant Agreement does not include the County's standard agreement provisions because the FAA requires the County to execute its standard FAA Grant Agreement to accept this grant. |
