MOTION TO ADOPT budget Resolution No. 2017-331 within the General Capital Outlay Fund transferring $600,000 to provide funds for consulting services for a new combined Medical Examiner/Crime Lab Facility project. (Commission District 9)

Board of County Commissioners' approval is required to transfer funds from a reserve and to create a capital project over $25,000.

Allows staff to begin the planning phase for a new combined Medical Examiner/Crime Lab Facility.

THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.

On February 7, 2017 (Item No. 2), the Board of County Commissioners approved the purchase of a 7.29 acre land parcel from the School Board of Broward County at a total cost of $3,130,000. The site located between 1625 and 1701 NW 23 Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, 33311 is planned to serve as the location for a new combined Medical Examiner/Crime Lab Facility.

This motion seeks to allocate $600,000 for phased consulting services to 1.) prepare a program for the facilities' design, analyze site utilization, explore potential layouts, and use scenarios, and estimate order of magnitude costs, and 2.) once a project budget is established, negotiate phase two of the consulting agreement to include full design and construction administration services.
