Broward County Commission Regular Meeting

MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2017-348 directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of a Public Hearing to be held on August 22, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., to consider enactment of an Ordinance adopting a proposed amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan  map (PC 17-5), in the City of Deerfield Beach (Commission District 4), as an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan, the substance of which is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF DEERFIELD BEACH; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

VOTE: 8-0.  Commissioner Geller abstained from voting on this item.

It is necessary to schedule a Public Hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to be held subsequent to receipt of a recommendation from the Broward County Planning Council prior to adoption of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.

The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a Public Hearing for August 22, 2017, to consider adoption of proposed Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 17-5, which is an amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan.

April 25, 2017 - The County Commission approved transmittal of proposed Broward County Land Use Plan amendment PC 17-5 to designated State review agencies.

The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed amendment, PC 17-5, at its March 23, 2017, public hearing and recommended approval, subject to  the applicant’s voluntary commitment regarding recreation and open space and community facilities acreage  (Vote of the Planning Council; 15-1; Yes: Blattner, Brunson, Castillo, de Jesus, DiGiorgio, Fink, Ganz, Gomez, Good, Graham, Grosso, McColgan, Udine, Williams and Stermer. No: Blackwelder). (Note: The Planning Council will also consider the amendment at its June 22, 2017, public hearing.)

AMENDMENT PC 17-5
Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Deerfield Beach

From 108.7 acres of Commercial Recreation and 0.3 acres of  Medium-High (25) Residential to Irregular (3.81) Residential

Approximately 109.0 acres; generally located on the west side of Military Trail, north of Crystal Lake Drive.

Further, if the County Commission sets the Public Hearing, the full amendment report and associated attachments will be included as exhibits to the public hearing item.
