Requested Action
MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2017-300 of the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County, Florida; authorizing the acceptance of $500 from Scott Rubinchik, a private citizen, for the benefit of Broward Addiction Recovery Division ("BARC") and its clients; authorizing the County Administrator to take all administrative actions to implement same; providing for severability and an effective date.

Why Action is Necessary
Chapter 18, Part III, Section 18.63 of the Broward County Administrative Code stipulates that donations valued at $500 or more shall be accepted by Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE BROWARD ADDICTION RECOVERY DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This item supports the Commission Value of "Approaching human services collaboratively and compassionately with special emphasis on persons and families experiencing homelessness," and the Goal to "Deliver evidence-based services to the most vulnerable, many of whom are ineligible through other systems of care, and connect those customers to sustainable support." This donation facilitates the provision of behavioral health services to Broward County residents.

BARC has been providing substance abuse treatment services to dependent consumers for the past 40 years. The Broward County Alcoholism Trust Fund was created on May 14, 2002 to receive and expend funds on behalf of BARC for the use and benefit of its clients.
