Summary Explanation/Background
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.

Wiles Road from Riverside Drive to Rock Island Road is a County road located in the Cities of Coral Springs and Parkland. Broward County is improving this approximately one-mile segment of Wiles Road. The improvements include the widening of this segment from four to six lanes and installing Complete Streets elements including designated bicycle lanes, sidewalks, drainage, lighting, signalization, landscaping and irrigation improvements. The County completed the design of this segment in June 2016 and is currently in the construction procurement process.

During the design, numerous City of Coral Springs' water and sewer utilities were found to be in direct conflict with the planned Wiles Road improvements. Since the utilities are located within the County right-of-way, their relocation, adjustment and disposal are the responsibility of the City of Coral Springs. The City has prepared design plans and  requested that the County incorporate these plans into the Wiles Road Project in order to expedite the utility work. Under the agreement, the County will incorporate the City's design plans into the Wiles Road Project and the City will reimburse the County for all costs related to the utility work.

The agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney and the Risk Management Division.
