MOTION TO APPROVE more than five County employees from the same department to attend the same non-local event on the attached summary, in accordance with Volume 1 of the Administrative Code - Chapter 3, Part II, Section 3.10 - County Employee Travel.

Summary Explanation/ Background
THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT, THE ACCOUNTING DIVISION AND THE ELDERLY AND VETERANS SERVICES DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
 
In accordance with the procedures outlined in Volume 1 of the Administrative Code Chapter 3, Part II, Section 3.10 - Travel, attached is a request for seven County employees who work in the Behavioral Health/Substance Abuse Section of Elderly and Veterans Services Division  to attend the 2014 Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association (FADAA)/Florida Council for Community Mental Health (FCCMH) Annual Conference for Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health in Orlando, Florida from August 5, 2014 to August 8, 2014.

The FADAA/FCCMH Conference is an exceptional forum for professional development and provides staff invaluable learning opportunities, including required Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Attendance will enable staff to learn and apply the latest technology, research and trends to the mental health and substance abuse services they provide to residents of Broward County. Due to its proximity to Broward County, this conference affords all staff a greater opportunity for attendance.

Fiscal Impact
Fiscal Impact/Cost Summary:
Estimated travel expenses in the amount of $3,904 will be funded through the Elderly and Veterans Services Division Behavioral Health Grant Fund 9957. County funding will be used to support travel expenses in the estimated amount of $2,054 for a total of $5,958.
