Broward County Commission Regular Meeting

MOTION TO ACCEPT nominations of Philip Bachers, Michael Cassano, Walter Dix, MaryEllen House, Joanne Richter, Dr. Patricia Anne Rowe-King, and Alison Zerbe for appointments to the Broward Regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Council.

ACTION:  (T-10:23 AM)  Approved.
 
VOTE: 9-0.

Broward County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 15, Article V, Section 15-74(a)(5), Section 15-74(b)(2) and Section 15-74(b)(4), states vacancies and appointments in the membership for the Broward Regional EMS Council, an advisory board to the County Commissioners, shall be filled in the same manner provided for in the original appointment. As such, a name for each category/organization shall be submitted to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration as an appointment to the Broward Regional EMS Council.

This action allows the Board of County Commissioners to fill the vacant positions of Broward College - Emergency Medical Services Department (term expires 6/24/18); Transport - County Fire (term expires 4/18/18); Fire/Paramedic, Union Representative (term expires 6/24/18); Advanced Life Support (ALS) - Private Provider Administration (term expires 6/24/18); Broward County Trauma Advisory Panel (term expires 6/24/18); Hospitals - Broward Health, Administration (term expires 8/10/18); Transport - Private Ambulance (term expires 1/8/17).

THE BROWARD REGIONAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS) COUNCIL, THROUGH THE OFFICE OF MEDICAL EXAMINER AND TRAUMA SERVICES, RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.

The Broward Regional EMS Council makes recommendations to the Board on issues concerning the delivery of emergency and nonemergency care and transportation to the citizens and visitors of Broward County.

Each member of the Council represents a specific category based upon expertise within a given area. The County Commission appoints Council members and each serves for a four-year term or expiration of vacant position term at the pleasure of the Board of County Commissioners.

The Broward Regional EMS Council met on June 5, 2014 and approved the following nominations for appointment: Philip Bachers, representing Broward College - Emergency Medical Services Department; Michael Cassano, representing Transport - County Fire; Walter Dix, representing Fire/Paramedic, Union Representative; MaryEllen House, representing Advanced Life Support (ALS) - Private Provider Administration; Joanne Richter, representing Broward County Trauma Advisory Panel; Dr. Patricia Anne Rowe-King, representing Hospitals - Broward Health, Administration; and Alison Zerbe, representing Transport - Private Ambulance.
