THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action provides for the approval of a TBLA with Swissport to permit the use of a portion of the Airport for lease and use.
On May 14, 2013 (Item No. 6), the Board approved a Terminal Building Lease Agreement between Broward County and Servisair USA, Inc. with a termination date of May 21, 2018. During the period from the approval date of May 14, 2013 to July 22, 2013, Servisair USA, Inc. ("Servisair") was acquired by Swissport. Servisair turned over all contractual obligations at FLL to Swissport. Swissport is a company organized and existing under the laws of the state of Delaware and legally authorized to do business in the State of Florida. Swissport provides ground services to airlines at FLL.
The proposed TBLA allows Swissport to lease 625 square feet of Airline Ticket Office space (Type 1) in Terminal 4, departure level and 626 square feet of Operations space (Type 2) in Terminal 4, Concourse G, East. The TBLA shall commence on May 22, 2018 and shall terminate five years thereafter on May 21, 2023. The TBLA may be terminated at any time by the Board, the CEO/Director of Aviation or Swissport with or without cause, upon 30 calendar days prior written notice to the other party.
Swissport has posted a security deposit in the amount of $67,188 which is based on the estimated amount of three months' rent.
The amount referenced in the agenda has been rounded to the nearest whole dollar. Swissport payments will be based on the actual amount payable under the proposed TBLA. The Agreement Summary Sheet reflect the estimated amount payable.
The proposed TBLA has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney and the Risk Management Division.
