THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE PLANNING AND REDEVELOPMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On February 11, 2014, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners voted to transmit the proposed amendment to the Transportation Element to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and other state agencies for review. The DEO and review agencies identified no objections regarding this amendment. It is noted that County staff received informal comments from the Florida Department of Transportation suggesting several “cosmetic” or clarifying revisions to the proposed amendment. These proposed changes were shared with the County’s Complete Streets Team and interested parties list and have been incorporated into amendment package proposed for adoption.
The Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department’s Local Planning Agency (LPA) held a public hearing on the Transportation Element on November 14, 2013, and voted to find the proposed text amendment 14-T1 to the Transportation Element consistent with the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.
Exhibit 3, Attachment A identifies the proposed amendments to the goals, objectives and policies of the Transportation Element to incorporate “Complete Streets” provisions. |
