Summary Explanation/ Background
THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT AND TRANSIT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF ABOVE MOTIONS.

This item supports the Board's Vision of an "Efficient and Accessible Regional Intermodal Transportation Network" and its goal to "enhance our efficient, safe, clean, attractive, and interconnected multimodal transportation systems."

As part of the Broward County Bus Shelter and Bus Stop Improvement Program, the Transit Division (BCT) will install two bus shelters and associated amenities (benches, trash receptacles, energy efficient solar lighting, bike racks, etc.) at one bus stop location on the Broward College Davie campus. The shelters, benches and associated amenities will be constructed and paid for by BCT using approximately $50,000 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and other Federal funds at locations detailed in Exhibit "A" of the agreement. Exhibit 2 is an aerial map showing the location of the proposed transit shelters location on the campus.

Upon completion of the bus stops and shelters, the Broward College shall assume responsibility for all maintenance and repairs of the bus stop, shelters and associated amenities as detailed in the agreement (Exhibit 1). BCT is requesting Board approval of this maintenance agreement. In the event that additional funding for bus shelters becomes available, the proposed action authorizes the County Administrator to execute amendments to the agreement authorizing additional bus shelters.

Fiscal Impact
Fiscal Impact/Cost Summary:
There is no fiscal impact for this agreement as the shelters are paid for utilizing approximately $50,000 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds budgeted in Transit's Capital Grant Fund No. 3450-035-8571-6350. Broward College will be responsible for all maintenance costs for the shelters and associated amenities once they are installed.
