MOTION TO ACCEPT nominations of Dr. Peter Antevy, Bruce Caruso, Thomas DiBernardo, Walter Dix, Jerry Graziose, MaryEllen House, Vanessa Quiles, Anthony Stravino, and Brian Vermette for appointments to the Broward Regional Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Council.

VOTE: 8-0. Commissioner Ritter was not present.

ACTION: (T-10:45 AM) The Board reconsidered the Consent Agenda for Item 28. (Refer to minutes for full discussion.)

VOTE: 9-0. Commissioner Ritter voted in the affirmative telephonically.

Broward County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 15, Article V, Section 15-74(a)(4), Section 15-74(b)(2) and Section 15-74(b)(4), states vacancies and appointments in the membership for the Broward Regional EMS Council, an advisory board to the County Commissioners, shall be filled in the same manner provided for in the original appointment. As such, a name for each category/organization shall be submitted to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration as an appointment to the Broward Regional EMS Council.

This action allows the Board of County Commissioners to fill positions vacant or expiring for the positions of Physicians: Emergency Medicine (term expires April 13, 2018); Advanced Life Support (ALS): County Paramedic (term expires June 13, 2018); Police and Fire: Municipal Fire (term expires April 13, 2018); Police and Fire: County Fire (term expires April 18, 2018); Broward County League of Cities (term expires January 23, 2015); Transport: Non-Fire Based Ambulance (term expires January 8, 2017); Nurses: Emergency Room (term expires September 27, 2016); Advanced Life Support (ALS): County Administration (term expires January 8, 2017); Transport: Nonemergency Medical Transportation Service (term expires January 8, 2017).

THE BROWARD REGIONAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS) COUNCIL, THROUGH THE OFFICE OF MEDICAL EXAMINER AND TRAUMA SERVICES, RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.

The Broward Regional EMS Council makes recommendations to the Board on issues concerning the delivery of emergency and nonemergency care and transportation to the citizens and visitors of Broward County.

Each member of the Council represents a specific category based upon expertise within a given area. The County Commission appoints Council members and each serves for a four-year term or expiration of vacant position term at the pleasure of the Board of County Commissioners.

The Broward Regional EMS Council met on March 6, 2014 and approved the following nominations for appointments:
