Summary Explanation/ Background
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has determined that certain roadway improvements are needed at the intersection of University Drive and Nova Drive. University Drive is a State road and Nova Drive is a County road.  The project incorporates the following improvements on Nova Drive: additional eastbound left-turn lane and westbound right-turn lane; Complete Streets elements that include bicycle lanes and sidewalks; and drainage improvements.  The project also includes an additional northbound auxiliary lane on University Drive from Nova Drive to the I-595 on-ramp.

This agreement allows FDOT to construct improvements along Nova Drive and ensures the County will continue its maintenance responsibility for Nova Drive after the improvements have been completed.  FDOT anticipates construction will begin in the first quarter 2015 and will be completed in 10 months.
