Summary Explanation/Background
In November 2000, Broward County voters approved the creation of the Children's Services Council (CSC). The CSC's membership is comprised of 11 members - six members serve in designated positions, including a representative of the Board of County Commissioners, and five members appointed by the Governor.

With respect to the gubernatorial appointees, the Board is required to submit the names of three individuals to the Governor for each vacancy. Therefore, the Board must submit the names of 15 individuals to the Governor to fill the five anticipated vacancies due to the expiring terms of the current appointees.

A public notice soliciting applications for the anticipated vacancies was initiated on November 13, 2018, through the County’s website and in various community bulletins, with an application submission deadline of December 7, 2018. On December 5, 2018 the application deadline was extended to December 14th, 2018 - 19 applications were received. On January 15, 2019, the Intergovernmental Affairs/Boards Section provided the Board with the applications, an applicant chart (Exhibit 1) and a ranking ballot (Exhibit 2).

This item is brought to allow the Board to discuss, rank (if desired), and recommend candidates to Governor DeSantis as required by law.
