MOTION TO ENACT Ordinance amending the Broward County Comprehensive Plan to adopt Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 17-13, in the City of Weston (Commission District 1), the substance of which is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF WESTON; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

ACTION:  (T-12:00 PM)  Filed proof of publication and enacted the Ordinance to become effective as provided by law.  (Refer to minutes for full discussion.)
 
VOTE: 8-0.  Vice-Mayor Bogen was not present.
Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended, Broward County Comprehensive Plan amendments shall be adopted by Ordinance by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, serving as the local governing body.
What Action Accomplishes
The Ordinance adopts Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 17-13 in accordance with Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed amendment, PC 17-13, at its August 24, 2017, public hearing and recommended approval, subject to the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $1 per gross square foot per additional dwelling units for affordable housing (Vote of the Planning Council: Unanimous; 13-0; Blackwelder, Blattner, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Graham, Grosso, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Ryan, Seiler, Williams and Stermer) and also recommended approval at its November 30, 2017, public hearing, subject to the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $1 per gross square foot per additional dwelling units for affordable housing (Vote of the Planning Council: 13-1; Yes: Blattner, Castillo, Ganz, Gomez, Good, Graham, Grosso, Rosenzweig, Ryan, Seiler, Udine, Williams and DiGiorgio. No: Blackwelder).

AMENDMENT PC 17-13
Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Weston

From a Dashed-Line Area consisting of 25.0 acres of Irregular (5) Residential to Irregular (28.44) Residential Approximately 25.0 acres; generally located on both sides of Racquet Club Road, between West Mall Road and Bonaventure Boulevard.
