MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2018-012 directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on January 23, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., to consider enactment of an Ordinance adopting a Small Scale land use plan amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan of the Broward County Comprehensive Plan, PC 18-1, located in the City of Dania Beach (Commission District 7), the substance of which is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING A SMALL SCALE AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF DANIA BEACH; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Why Action is Necessary
It is necessary to schedule a public hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to be held subsequent to receipt of a recommendation from the Broward County Planning Council prior to adoption of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.
What Action Accomplishes
The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a public hearing for January 23, 2018, to consider adoption of proposed Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 18-1, which is a small scale amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed small scale amendment, PC 18-1, at its October 26, 2017, public hearing and recommended approval, recognizing the data and analysis submitted by the City of Dania Beach regarding affordable housing Policy 2.16.2 and subject to the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $500 per additional dwelling unit towards the City’s affordable housing programs (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 16-0; Blackwelder, Blattner, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Good, Graham, Grosso, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Seiler, Udine, Williams and Stermer), and also recommended approval, recognizing the data and analysis submitted by the City of Dania Beach regarding affordable housing Policy 2.16.2 and subject to the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $500 per additional dwelling unit towards the City’s affordable housing programs  at its November 30, 2017, public hearing (Vote of the board; Unanimous: 14-0; Blackwelder, Blattner, Castillo, Ganz, Gomez, Good, Graham, Grosso, Rosenzweig, Ryan, Seiler, Udine, Williams and DiGiorgio).

AMENDMENT PC 18-1
Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Dania Beach

From 6.7 acres of Low (5) Residential and 1.6 acres of Commerce to 8.3 acres of Irregular (23.74) Residential

Approximately 8.3 acres; generally located on the the north side of Stirling Road, between Lakeshore Drive and Southwest 28 Terrace.

Further, if the County Commission sets the public hearing, the full amendment report and associated attachments will be included as an exhibit to the public hearing item.
