MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2018-013 directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of a Public Hearing to be held on January 23, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., to consider enactment of an Ordinance adopting a proposed amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan map (PC 17-13), in the City of Weston (Commission District 1), as an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan, the substance of which is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF WESTON; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

ACTION:  (T-10:20  AM)  Approved. 

VOTE: 8-0.  Commissioner Geller was not present.
Why Action is Necessary
It is necessary to schedule a Public Hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to be held subsequent to receipt of a recommendation from the Broward County Planning Council prior to adoption of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.
What Action Accomplishes
The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a Public Hearing for January 23, 2018, to consider adoption of proposed Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment PC 17-13, which is an amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed amendment, PC 17-13, at its August 24, 2017, public hearing and recommended approval, subject to the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $1 per gross square foot per additional dwelling units for affordable housing (Vote of the Planning Council: Unanimous; 13-0; Blackwelder, Blattner, DiGiorgio, Ganz, Gomez, Graham, Grosso, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Ryan, Seiler, Williams and Stermer) and also recommended approval at its November 30, 2017, public hearing, subject to the applicant’s voluntary contribution of $1 per gross square foot per additional dwelling units for affordable housing (Vote of the Planning Council: 13-1; Yes: Blattner, Castillo, Ganz, Gomez, Good, Graham, Grosso, Rosenzweig, Ryan, Seiler, Udine, Williams and DiGiorgio. No: Blackwelder).

From a Dashed-Line Area consisting of 25.0 acres of Irregular (5) Residential to Irregular (28.44) Residential

Approximately 25.0 acres; generally located on both sides of Racquet Club Road, between West Mall Road and Bonaventure Boulevard.

Further, if the County Commission sets the Public Hearing, the full amendment report and associated attachments will be included as exhibits to the public hearing item.
