Summary Explanation/Background
THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE HOUSING FINANCE AND COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This item supports the Board's value of offering sustainable, compatible, innovative housing options for all income-levels, including integrated, permanent supportive housing, and the Board's goal to increase the availability of affordable housing of all types, countywide, in every community using effective, uniform criteria, policies and strategies.

SoFI Corporation successfully responded to a competitive RFP for inspection and project advisory services for housing rehabilitation and new home construction activities under the Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division's various grant programs; and the Board approved an Agreement ("Original Agreement") with SoFI Corporation, dated October 15, 2015. The Original Agreement expired on October 14, 2017, prior to the parties entering into an amendment to the Original Agreement to exercise the option under such Original Agreement to renew the term, due to certain automobile insurance issues which SoFI Corporation was unable to resolve prior to the expiration of such Original Agreement. Approval of the Agenda Item reinstates the Original Agreement as if it had not expired and amends such Original Agreement to exercise the option to renew the term for a period of two years through October 14, 2019, and to provide for compensation up to a maximum amount not to exceed Ninety Thousand Dollars ($90,000) for the services to be provided by SoFI Corporation during the renewal term.

This item has been approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
