On February 14, 2012, the Board approved a Grant Agreement with PetSmart Charities, Inc. (“PetSmart”), of Phoenix, Arizona, that provided for the award of monies to Broward County through a Grant Statement to be executed by the parties. This Master Support Agreement ("Agreement") supersedes the 2012 Grant Agreement and provides for an initial award of $50,000 to Broward County to the Animal Care and Adoption Division of the Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department to procure and provide free microchips and microchipping services to the pets of Broward County residents, during the Division's monthly Rabies Vaccination Clinic Events. It is noted that this Agreement does not require a County match.
Broward County has been working successfully with PetSmart since January 2010 and staff believes accepting this award will allow the Division to continue providing important services, and recommends the Board approve this request to ensure that the valuable partnership with PetSmart continues.
This Agreement is with a private animal welfare fundraising organization that does not include the County's standard form agreement provisions and provides interpretation in accordance with Arizona law. Additionally, the County's approval and execution is required prior to execution by the grantor. This Agreement has been provided final legal review and approval as to form by the County Attorney's Office. This Agreement has been reviewed and approved by the Office of Public Communications and the Grants Office.
