MOTION TO APPROVE use of County staff and resources to promote and raise funds for the Broward County Census 2020 Complete Count Committee. (Commissioner Rich)

(Per the Tuesday Morning Memorandum, please note that the Motion Statement for this item should be interpreted to allow Commission staff from other Commission districts, as well as other County staff deemed appropriate by the County Administrator, to promote and raise funds for the Census 2020.)

ACTION:  (T-10:51 AM)  Approved.

VOTE: 9-0.  Vice-Mayor Holness voted in the affirmative telephonically.

Under the County's Code of Ethics for Elected Officials, County staff and County resources may be used in connection with the solicitation of charitable contributions if the County sponsors the applicable charity or fundraising event.

Authorizes the use of County staff and resources to promote and raise funds for the Broward County Census 2020 Complete Count Committee.

The Broward County Census 2020 Complete Count Committee (the "Committee") has as its core mission raising awareness of the importance of Census 2020. The Committee aggressively reaches out to hard-to-enumerate groups and encourages participation in the Census.
 
If approved, this item would allow the use of District 1 County staff and resources, including the use of the County's telephone and e-mail systems, to promote the Committee and raise funds to further its mission.
