MOTION TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND FILE Office of the County Auditor’s Audit of the Cultural Division - Report No. 19-09.

ACTION:  (T-11:16 AM)  Approved.  Later in the meeting, Commissioner Geller requested that the County Auditor’s Office make clarification in the Cultural Division Report to include that the County Cultural Council does in fact attend events to verify compliance with grant provisions, as well as sends written reports to contract administrators. (Refer to minutes for full discussion.)
 
VOTE:  8-0.  Commissioner Sharief was not present.

The Office of the County Auditor conducted an audit of the Cultural Division. Our objectives were to determine whether grants and contracts are administered in accordance with laws, regulations and contract provisions; to determine whether funds are accounted for and handled properly; and to determine whether funds are used effectively to deliver appropriate, needed art in public spaces.

We conclude that the grants are administered appropriately, funds are accounted for and handled properly; however, improvement is needed regarding the oversight of the Public Arts and Design Program. Opportunities for Improvement are included in the report.

We appreciate the cooperation and assistance provided by the Cultural Division throughout our audit process.
