THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DIVISION/REAL PROPERTY SECTION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
The vacant land, comprised of two parcels, are identified by Folio Number 4942-02-06-0240 and located at South Cypress Road in Pompano Beach. The parcels measure approximately 2.44 feet by 116.22 feet and 2.44 feet by 115 feet and are unbuildable. The parcels are zoned RM-20, Multiple Family Residence under Pompano Beach zoning codes.
The County acquired these parcels on October 1, 1959 from Everglades Drainage District by Quit Claim Deed as recorded in Deed Book 749, Page 172 of the Public Records of Broward County. All applicable Broward County agencies were solicited for potential County use of these parcels or rights therein and no current or future use was identified for these parcels.
On April 10, 2018 (Item No. 10), the Board of County Commissioners approved a motion to declare these parcels surplus and directed staff to send notices to adjacent property owners requesting sealed bids and manage the properties for sale. One bid was received by the advertised deadline. Staff recommends approval of the sale and conveyance of these parcels to the highest and only bidder, Barcelona Condominium North, Inc., for a purchase price of $1,000.
