There were no goals assigned to this contract because an emergency procurement approved by the Director of Purchasing is exempt from application of participation goals.
On March 26, 2019, Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD) received notification from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) that an overheight vehicle traveling northbound on the Florida Turnpike struck the underside of the County-owned Sheridan Street Turnpike overpass, causing significant damage to the bridge structure. As a result, County staff and FDOT promptly performed an emergency bridge inspection and determined immediate and permanent repairs.
The HBMD requested approval from the Director of Purchasing to use open-end contract No. PNC2117217B1, Bridge and Miscellaneous Structures Repairs, to effectuate immediate and permanent repairs (Exhibit 1). Due to the nature of the work, the contract pay items for bridge repairs were not applicable; therefore, the pass-thru pay item for specialized construction activities was used. Repairs were completed successfully. |
