Summary Explanation/Background
THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DIVISION/REAL PROPERTY SECTION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The subject parcel of land identified by Folio Number 4942-32-01-2740 is approximately 2,500 square feet and is located on the east side of NW 27th Avenue north of NW 15th Street in the Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD). The parcel is zoned RD-10 (Duplex Dwelling Maximum Ten Units per Acre) under County zoning codes.

The parcel escheated to Broward County for non-payment of taxes. Title was conveyed to the County via tax deed No.21189 pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section 197.502(8) since there were no bidders at public sale recorded in Official Records Book 34073, Page 1202 of the Public Records of Broward County. All applicable Broward County agencies were solicited for potential County use of this property or rights therein; no current or future use was identified for this parcel.

On August 14, 2018 (Item No. 17), the Board of County Commissioners approved a motion to declare this parcel surplus and directed staff to send notices to adjacent property owners requesting sealed bids and manage the property for sale. Two bids of $3,000 and $1,000 were received by the advertised deadline. Staff recommends approval of the sale and conveyance of this parcel to the highest bidder, Miguel Angel DiSanto, for a purchase price of $3,000. Mr. DiSanto owns the vacant property to the north of the County's property; combining the two parcels provides the opportunity to develop the parcels with a single-family house.

All documents have been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
