Requested Action
MOTION TO APPROVE Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Broward County and Sheriff of Broward County for providing access to the Public Safety Security Camera System in the Broward Municipal Services District to assist with Law Enforcement activities in the area, in substantially the form attached, subject to review by the Office of the County Attorney for legal sufficiency.

(Per the Tuesday Morning Memorandum, at the end of the Motion Statement, the following language should be included: “and to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to execute same.”)

ACTION:  (T-10:45 AM)  Approved.  

VOTE:  9-0.  Commissioner Geller and Vice-Mayor Holness voted in the affirmative telephonically.

Summary Explanation/Background
The County initiated a procurement that will allow for a Public Safety Security Camera System to be installed in the Broadview Park and Central County portions of the Broward Municipal Services District for use for law enforcement activities only. The attached Memorandum of Understanding (Exhibit 1) between Broward County and the Sheriff of Broward outlines the roles and responsibilities for the public safety security camera system to include adherence to standards, developed by the Sheriff’s Office, regarding access to and use of the system.

The implementation of the Public Safety Security Camera System in Broadview Park and Central County neighborhoods have been discussed with each Homeowner’s Association, and County staff and BSO have received positive feedback during these meetings on the implementation of this system.
