MOTION TO AUTHORIZE County Administrator or authorized designee, to take any and all necessary or advisable actions to lease property for the Broward County Building Code Services Division, included but not limited to leases, license agreements, lease amendments, extension letters, terminations or legal documents; executing letters of intent; and conducting required due diligence, with final documents subject to the review and approval of the Office of the County Attorney.

ACTION:  (T-10:30 AM)  Approved.  (Scrivener’s Error – See County  Administrator’s Report: Motion currently reads:…"to lease property for the Broward County Building Code Services Division…”  Should read:…”to lease property for the Broward County Building Code Services Division at market rental rates…”)

VOTE: 8-0.  Commissioner Sharief was not present.

Board of County Commissioners' approval is required to delegate authority to the County Administrator.

Authorizes the County Administrator to take any and all necessary or advisable actions to acquire property rights to accommodate the Building Code Services Division.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DIVISION/REAL PROPERTY SECTION AND BUILDING CODE SERVICES DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The Building Code Services Division is looking to relocate close to the Airport, which represents approximately 80% of the Division's business.  This relocation would expedite renovating space in Government Center West to accommodate staffing support for the Transportation Surtax Program.

To facilitate and expedite the execution of lease agreement(s) it is requested that the County Administrator be authorized to take any and all necessary or advisable actions to lease property for the Building Code Services Division. Any documents executed by the County Administrator would be subject to approval of the Office of the County Attorney.
