Broward County Commission Regular Meeting

MOTION TO APPROVE appointments of Melida Akiti and Dwayne Chung to the Homeless Continuum of Care (HCOC) Board.

ACTION:  (T-10:33 AM)  Approved.

VOTE:  8-0.  Commissioner Geller was not present.

Board approval is required to fill vacancies on the HCOC.

Fills two vacancies on the HCOC.

THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS/BOARDS SECTION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS ITEM.

The Homeless Continuum of Care Board (HCOC) is composed of 30 voting/nonvoting members, including 19 members who are nominated by specific entities for approval by the Board of County Commissioners. One voting member category provides for a South Broward Hospital District representative to serve on the HCOC. Additionally, a representative from the Corrections/Law Enforcement of the City of Hollywood also serves on the HCOC.

The following nominations have been received by the Human Services Department (HSD) for appointment to the HCOC pursuant to Section 12.153(a)4, Broward County Administrative Code:

Melida Akiti nominated as the South Broward Hospital District Representative.
Dwayne Chung nominated as the Corrections/Law Enforcement Representative from the City of Hollywood.

Ms. Akiti was nominated by the South Broward Hospital District to serve on the HCOC on January 25, 2019. Mr. Chung was nominated by the Police Department of the City of Hollywood on January 23, 2019. The County Attorney has determined that Ms. Akiti and Mr. Chung qualify for appointment (Exhibit 1 and Exhibit 2).
