The Agreement between Broward County and Sheriff of Broward County for the Operation of Call-Taking, Teletype (Queries Only), and Dispatch Services for the Consolidated Regional E-911 Communications System (“Agreement”), dated September 30, 2013, was originally scheduled to terminate on September 30, 2018.
The First Amendment was approved by the Board on September 13, 2018. It allowed for extensions of the Agreement through March 31, 2019. A Second Amendment, extending the time for up to two additional three-month extensions, maybe necessary to allow for time for the County Administrator and Sheriff to discuss and finalize specific details of the proposed amended and restated Operator Agreement.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office (“BSO”) and County staff are attempting to finalize a proposed amended and restated agreement, which has been the subject of extensive negotiations. In the event that the amended and restated agreement is not substantially final in time for the Board to consider on March 28, 2019, this agenda item would authorize the County Administrator to negotiate and execute a Second Amendment to the Agreement to provide for up to two three-month extensions on the existing terms and conditions and consistent with the applicable funding in the County’s approved 2018-2019 budget to provide for continued operation of the County’s regional E-911 communications system until an amended and restated agreement or another alternative can be finalized and approved. |
