MOTION TO ADOPT budget Resolution No. 2019-089 within the Broward Redevelopment Capital Fund in the amount of $150,000 to provide one-time matching funds to the City of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea for the design portion of a septic to sewer conversion project.

VOTE:  8-0.  Commissioner Geller was not present.

Pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 129.05(b), Board approval is required to appropriate funds from reserves and is also required to approve projects within the Broward Redevelopment Capital Fund.

Appropriates funding to provide one-time matching funds to the City of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea for the design of a septic to sewer conversion project.

Not Applicable.

During the Fiscal Year 2019 budget development process, former Commissioner LaMarca requested assistance for the City of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea septic tank to sewer conversion project. While the original request of $1.5 million was not authorized, the Board directed the County Administrator to review viable alternatives for assisting with $150,000 to serve as a match to a state grant application. Although this type of project is not within the County's scope of responsibility, septic tank conversion is in fact a priority and is environmentally beneficial for the County as a whole. The City of Pompano Beach is also anticipated to provide funding for this project.
