THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND CONSUMER PROTECTION DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
Chapter 3 1/2 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances identifies the process by which every person, firm, corporation, or association must abide to provide emergency medical services within Broward County, Florida. The Environmental and Consumer Protection Division acts as the designee of the County Administrator for the purpose of reviewing and processing applications for Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity (COPCN), including Class 1 - ALS Rescue services. The application process and monitoring of certified agencies are further promulgated through the rules and regulations set forth in Chapter 3 1/2 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances and Chapter 33, Part II, Medical Transportation Rules and Regulations, of the Broward County Administrative Code.
The Environmental and Consumer Protection Division has received and reviewed the applications from the City of Dania Beach, Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, City of Lauderdale Lakes, City of Margate Fire Rescue, Town of Southwest Ranches, and City of Sunrise Fire Rescue Department for renewal of COPCNs to provide Class 1 - ALS Rescue services within Broward County, Florida. The current COPCNs are valid for five years and expire on April 1, 2019. The Environmental and Consumer Protection Division has found the above applicants to be in compliance with all County rules and regulations relating to the provisions of Class 1 - ALS Rescue services. The full applications, including exhibits, are maintained by the Environmental and Consumer Protection Division. Pursuant to Chapter 3 1/2-15(b) of the Broward County Code of Ordinances, the Environmental and Consumer Protection Division has received no complaints concerning the actions of the above applicants and will present the applications to the Board for its consideration during the public hearing scheduled for March 28, 2019. |
