The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed text amendment, PCT 19-5, at its January 24, 2019, public hearing and recommended approval(Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 14-0; Blackwelder, Blattner, Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Good, Graham, Hardin, Rich, Rosenof, Rosenzweig, Williams and Stermer):
AMENDMENT PCT 19-5
Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan Text regarding accessory dwelling units.
The Broward County Planning Council initiated the proposed amendment at its October 25, 2018, meeting. The proposed amendment is consistent with the Planning Council and County Commission’s encouragement of incentives for affordable housing opportunities. Accessory Dwelling Units are authorized by Florida Statutes Chapter 163.31771. It is noted that local governments may be more restrictive than the Broward County Land Use Plan.
Further, if the County Commission sets the public hearing, the full amendment report and associated attachments will be included as an exhibit to the public hearing item.
