THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This recommendation supports the Commission's Value of "Approaching human services collaboratively and compassionately, with special emphasis on the most vulnerable,” as well as the Goal to “Deliver evidence-based services to the public, and connect customers and their family members, to sustainable support, with special emphasis on financial supports.” The Family Nurturing Program provides parenting training to reduce and/or eliminate neglectful, abusive and harsh behaviors within the family unit.
On September 25, 2018, at the Fiscal Year 2019 Budget Hearing, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners ("Board") approved the allocation of $45,000 in non-recurring funds for the Family Central, Inc. Family Nurturing Program. Program outcomes include: 1) Parent(s)/guardian(s) increased knowledge of parenting skills and competencies; 2) Parent(s)/guardian(s) increased protective factors.
The County will use the Consultant Form Agreement approved by the Board on June 12, 2018, (Item No. 61). The County Attorney will review and approve the Agreement prior to execution by the County Administrator.
