Broward County Commission Regular Meeting

MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2019-012 directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of Public Hearing to be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of the Governmental Center to consider enactment of a proposed Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO ZONING; AMENDING SECTION 39-275 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES ("CODE"); PROVIDING SOLID WASTE STORAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

ACTION:  (T-11:20 AM)  Approved.

The proposed Ordinance was prepared by the Office of the County Attorney at the direction of the Board of County Commissioners at its meeting of August 14, 2018.

Amends the Broward County Code of Ordinances to provide solid waste storage requirements for residential properties.

Section 39-275(6) of the Broward Code of Ordinances ("Code") regulates the placement of trash cans, bulk trash, and yard waste for collection in the Broward Municipal Services District ("BMSD"). This Code revision provides additional requirements for the storage of solid waste receptacles. The additional provisions will allow for enhanced enforcement to address illegal dumping of solid waste in BMSD neighborhoods.
