In 2017, Broward County treated 1,642 cases of opioid overdoses and continues to see a dramatic number of opioid-related deaths. Currently, Florida law provides only for a voluntary certification program for recovery residences. Senate Bill 102 creates a mandatory certification program, which would promote uniform regulation and accountability.
This Resolution expresses the Board's support for Senate Bill 102 and directs the County Administrator to transmit a copy of the Resolution to all members of the Broward Legislative Delegation and all Florida legislators representing Broward County residents.
