Summary Explanation/Background
The American Flood Coalition (AFC) is a nonpartisan coalition that brings together stakeholders from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to address issues of flooding and sea level rise. The AFC is a forum for best practices and support to develop local and state-level responses to flooding and sea level rise that will enhance the County’s resilience effort. Flooding and sea level rise are important issues that affect a significant portion of Broward County’s residents, and the AFC provides opportunities and tools to communicate with residents on flooding challenges and solutions. Joining the AFC will aid in the County’s efforts to protect against flooding without requiring any additional support or dues from the County Commission.
