Summary Explanation/Background
Florida has a ban on texting while driving that can only be enforced as a secondary offense when a law enforcement officer stops a motorist on a suspected violation of a primary offense of the uniform traffic laws. House Bill 45 and Senate Bill 76 seek to strengthen road safety and prevent injury and death by prohibiting the use wireless communication devices while driving.

This Resolution expresses the Board of County Commissioners' support for House Bill 45 and Senate Bill 76 and directs the County Administrator to direct a copy of the Resolution to all members of the Broward Legislative Delegation and all Florida legislators representing Broward County residents.
