Summary Explanation/Background
On September 13, 2018, Agenda Item 71, the Board directed the Office of the County Attorney to draft an Ordinance to establish a Committee that would, through nonbinding proceedings, adjudicate complaints involving unfair campaign practices. This Committee would be composed, in large part, of individuals nominated by organizations within the County. These organizations should be bona fide, nonpartisan organizations that do not endorse candidates for elected office, are not affiliated with partisan organizations, and are representative of Broward County's diverse community. Organizations should have experience in legal matters, and the Committee may include organizations involved in business, law, environmentalism, or other matters of public concern.

This agenda item provides an opportunity for the Board to discuss which organizations should be represented on the Committee and to provide the Office of the County Attorney with additional direction in drafting the Ordinance.
