Requested Action
A. MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2018-507 of the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County, Florida, accepting a donation from Carole Reese in the amount of $100,000 to be deposited in the Animal Care Trust Fund for the funding of life-saving programs; authorizing the County Administrator to take all administrative and budgetary actions to implement acceptance; and providing for severability and an effective date. (Commission District 4)

B. MOTION TO ADOPT budget Resolution No. 2018-508 within the Animal Care Trust Fund to appropriate revenue in the amount of $100,000 for Fiscal Year 2019 for the purpose of budgeting a donation received from Carole Reese, that was deposited in the Animal Care Trust Fund for the funding of life-saving programs.

ACTION:  (T-10:48 AM)  Approved.

Why Action is Necessary
A. Section 18.63 of the Administrative Code states that donations to the County of $10,000 or more shall be accepted by a Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners.

B. Board action is required to approve unanticipated revenue Resolutions.

A. Authorizes the Animal Care and Adoption Division to accept a donation in the amount of $100,000.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE ANIMAL CARE AND ADOPTION DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS.

The Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Division has received a generous donation in the amount of $100,000 from Carole Reese, who resides in Florida and Ohio. Carole Reese is donating the funds in honor and memory of her late husband, Stuart Reese, and will be used to augment the life-saving programs of the Animal Care and Adoption Division. A personalized, hand-written Thank You card on behalf of the County was mailed to the donor from the director of the Animal Care and Adoption Division.

Inherent in the motion is authorization for the County Administrator to take all administrative and budgetary actions required to implement the donation.
