MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2018-472 of the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County, Florida, pertaining to Paratransit Services; Amending Section 41.04 of the Broward County Administrative Code to clarify the fare for ADA Paratransit trips; and providing for severability, inclusion in the Administrative Code, and an effective date.

Why Action is Necessary
Board of County Commissioners (Board) approval is required for Resolutions. Section 3.04 of the Broward County Charter requires a public hearing to be held concerning the adoption of proposed amendments to the Administrative Code.
What Action Accomplishes
Holds Public Hearing to allow public comment on proposed changes to the Administrative Code Sections 41.04. Paratransit Fares to make language consistent with federal regulations.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT/TRANSIT DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This item is in furtherance of the Board's established Value of "Cooperatively delivering an efficient and accessible regional intermodal transportation network".

In compliance with federal and county regulations, policies and procedures, this public hearing will allow public comment on the proposed changes to the Administrative Code.

In order to clarify language related to the Paratransit fare structure for ADA to be consistent with federal regulations, the Transit Division (BCT) is proposing to amend Section 41.04 (b) of the Broward County Administrative code for Paratransit fares. Section 41.04(b) will be updated by adding the following language "shall not exceed twice the fare that would be charged to an individual paying full fare riding on fixed route up to a maximum of $3.50" (Exhibit 1).

Advance public notice of the time and date of the public hearing on the proposed changes to the Administrative code was accomplished by using the newspaper, Broward County’s website, and Facebook page.
