Requested Action
MOTION TO DISCUSS naming a wing of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida after the late former State Senator, Mayor of Coral Springs, FL, and prominent attorney, Skip Campbell. (Vice-Mayor Bogen)

ACTION:  (T-2:53 PM)  Following discussion, the Board approved naming the west wing of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida the Skip Campbell Building, with an item to be brought back to the Board shortly after the 1st of the year.  (Refer to minutes for full discussion.)  (See Yellow-Sheeted Additional Material, dated November 13, 2018, submitted at the request of County Administration.)

VOTE: 7-0.  Dr. Sharief was not present at the time of the vote.
Why Action is Necessary
Allows the Board of Commissioners to discuss naming a wing of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida after the late Mayor Skip Campbell.

Summary Explanation/Background
On October 23, 2018, Mayor Skip Campbell of Coral Springs, FL, unexpectedly passed away. Mayor Campbell has served the residents of Broward County as a state senator (1996-2006), a mayor (2014-2018), president of the Broward County Bar Association, and an attorney. This board item allows the Commission to discuss the possibility of honoring Mayor Campbell’s many contributions to Broward County by naming a wing of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida after him.
