MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2018-492 directing the County Administrator to publish notice of a public hearing to be held on December 4, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., to consider transmittal to designated State review agencies of a proposed amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan text (PCT 19-3), regarding the "Miramar Activity Center II," as an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan. (Commission District 8)

Why Action is Necessary
It is necessary to schedule a public hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners prior to transmittal of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.
What Action Accomplishes
The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a public hearing for December 4, 2018, to consider transmittal of proposed text amendment PCT 19-3, which is an amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan, to designated State review agencies pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed text amendment PCT 19-3, at its October 25, 2018, public hearing, and recommended approval  (Vote of the Board: Unanimous: 11-0: Yes: Blackwelder, Blattner, Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, DiGiorgio, Graham, Hardin, Rich, Rosenzweig and Stermer):

AMENDMENT PCT 19-3
Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan Text

Existing 439.7-acre Miramar Activity Center II, reducing development threshold of office land uses by 500,000 square feet and amending residential dwelling unit types for single-family and multi-family.

Approximately 439.7 acres:  generally located east of Southwest 66 Avenue and bound on the north by Pembroke Road, on the east by State Road 7/U.S. 441, and on the south by County Line Road, in the City of Miramar.

Further, if the County Commission sets the public hearing, the full amendment report and associated attachments will be included as an exhibit to the public hearing item.
