On November 7, 2017, the Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) authorized District 4 to distribute $15,000 from the Safe Parks and Land Preservation Bond Program funds (“Park Bond Funds”) to the City of Lighthouse Point to help fund a Heroes Memorial Shrine at the Frank McDonough Park in Lighthouse Point, Florida (“Prior Project”). Due to various issues, the Prior Project could not be funded with Park Bond Funds. This agenda item would allocate those funds to other permissible projects within the District.
The City of Fort Lauderdale seeks Park Bond Funds to help finance a 9/11 Memorial at the Riverwalk in Fort Lauderdale. The City of Fort Lauderdale has approved the proposed agreement between Broward County and City of Fort Lauderdale to address the use of such funds.
The City of Lighthouse Point seeks Park Bond Funds to help finance playground equipment at Dan Witt Park in Lighthouse Point, Florida. The City of Lighthouse Point has approved the proposed agreement between Broward County and City of Lighthouse Point to address this use of such funds.
This item would allocate funds to those two projects and approve the related agreements.
